The Aveyron is famous for the spectacular Millau viaduct - the highest road bridge in the world, Roquefort - the king of cheeses and the Laguiole knife. It has 10 of the official "Most Beautiful Villages" in France, more than any other department.
For lovers of history, there are over 20 medieval chateaux and fortresses to visit and stunning Templar strongholds. For children, there are animal parks and tree climbing adventures.
